Our LILE.

What is LILE?

The EU funding program LEADER is implemented in successive funding periods. One funding period lasts several years.

To become a LEADER region, each interested region applies with a Local Integrated Rural Development Strategy (LILE).

The LILE sets out the region’s objectives for the next funding period and defines the framework conditions, such as the funding rate, for LEADER funding. In addition, a region must describe how it intends to achieve its objectives and what concrete results are to emerge from the objectives.

In addition to the evaluation of statistical data, various formats of citizen participation and interviews with regional experts were carried out for the development of the LILE. True to the motto, local people know best what they need!

Through its specifications, the LILE functions as a kind of instruction manual for the LEADER approach in the respective region.

In November 2022, the Rhine-Ahr LEADER region was selected for participation in the 2024 – 2027 funding phase by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture (MWVLW) following recognition of the LILE.

The heart of our LILE

Our LILE - What does it say?

Our LILE is made up as follows and becomes more and more specific from point one to point three:

  1. Mission statement
  2. Developement goals
  3. Fields of action

The mission statement of the LILE is the regional motto for the entire development strategy and reads: Come over. Rhine-Ahr region. The motto emphasizes the aim of the municipal merger to move closer together across the Rhine and to tackle common challenges and potentials.

The thematic focus of the current funding phase was formulated by defining six development goals:

  1. Connecting both sides of the Rhine
  2. Creating regional identity
  3. Promoting intergenerational projects
  4. Regional resilience to the effects of climate change
  5. Expanding future-oriented mobility and networking forms of mobility
  6. Bringing natural potential and regional cultural history to life

In order to achieve these goals, three fields of action with their own sub-fields of action were defined, which fill the described goals with concrete content:

  1. Living, working and social interaction
  2. Landscape and climate protection
  3. Tourism, culture and regional identity

As every funded project must contribute to at least one field of action, the LILE sets the framework within which LEADER funding is possible in the current funding phase.

As with everything concerning LEADER, the regional management of the LAG will be happy to assist you and answer any open or unclear points regarding the development strategy.
