Our LAG.

The Local Action Group (LAG) is the heart of every LEADER region, as it is made up of the people who are responsible for managing, advising and designing the LEADER program in the region. Rhein-Ahr is made up of two committees. These two bodies, in which the implementation of LEADER in the region is discussed and decided, are the LAG plenary assembly and the decision-making body. Both committees are made up of a broad spectrum of regional stakeholders from politics, administration, (social) economy and civil society and are advised in their decision-making by the regional management and the administrative office.

The current chairman is Mr. Andreas Geron (Mayor of the town of Sinzig).

Our LAG general assembly

The LAG plenary assembly is made up of all LAG members. The members are made up of representatives of public bodies, economic and social partners and representatives of civil society. It also has advisory members without voting rights, for example from the Supervisory and Service Directorate (ADD) and the Rural Service Center (DLR). Other individuals and institutions are involved on a topic or project-related basis. The fundamental direction of the LEADER region is discussed in this committee. Examples of this are the adaptation of the Local Integrated Rural Development Strategy (LILE) or the election of the Board of Directors. In addition, the LAG plenary assembly acts as a supervisory body for the decisions of the decision-making body. The LAG plenary assembly usually meets once or twice a year.

Our decision-making committee

The decision-making committee is responsible both for selecting the projects to be funded and for deciding on the content of the day-to-day business.

The mayors of the four association municipalities and the two non-association towns are permanent members of the decision-making body. The other members of the decision-making body are elected by the LAG general assembly.

The current distribution of members of the decision-making body is as follows:

  • 6 Mayors
  • 8 economic ans social partners (WiSo) and
  • 6 representatives of civil society from the four fields of action of the LILE
  • 4 advisory members (ADD, DLR, Naturpark Rhein-Westerwald, Romantischer Rhein e.V.)
